SURF CAMP
Our weekly surf camp teaches surfers ages 5-16 the sport of surfing! Water safety is our top priority at Flying Point Surf School where we teach the skills needed to keep our surfers and others safe, including ocean swim and rescue, identifying unsafe water conditions, paddling techniques, swim and surf forecasting, and more. We take pride in our facilitation of a safe, fun, and interactive learning environment for all of our clients.
Weekly surf camp is offered Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, beginning July 1st through August 30th.
CAMP DAY
A typical camp day starts with check-in. Surfers are encouraged to wear their own wetsuits to check-in, which maximizes their time in the water each day. We begin camp with stretching and yoga, followed by on-the-sand pop up drills to get familiar with standing up on the boards. Next we do surf forecasting, which is when we examine weather and water conditions and go over safety protocol specific to the day’s conditions. The rest of the camp day is spent surfing and playing games that develop campers’ surfing and swimming skills and techniques. There is a short snack break toward the middle of the surf session.
WHO CAN ENROLL
Surf camp is open to all surfers ages 5-16.
We have a team of awesome instructors who are CPR and first aid certified. There are several certified ocean lifeguards on staff, and every team member is deeply committed to facilitating the safest possible, most fun surfing experience to all.
WHEN
Weekly surf camp will be offered Monday-Friday from July 1st through August 30th.
WHERE
Surf camp will be held at a Sagaponack beach this season. Location details will be communicated upon registration. Please note that parking permits are required for vehicles at all beaches on the East End, and that a Southampton Town Beach Parking Permit will be necessary for you to park your vehicle at the beach if you would like to observe the surf sessions. Those who do not have parking permits are more than welcome to opt for drop-off and pick-up.
COST
Surf camp is $1,495.00 per weekly session.
Includes 3 hours of tailored surf instruction per day, for 5 days.
WHAT TO BRING
We provide surfboards for camp at no extra cost, however your surfer is more than welcome to bring their own board if they have one!
FPSS requires all surfers wear their own 3/2 full wetsuits.
Other than wearing their wetsuit, surfers should bring a towel, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle. We bring complimentary snacks to camp every day, and we have very large dispenser for water refills.
If you are in need of surf gear, we recommend checking out a local surf shop, like our friends over at Flying Point Surf Shop. We are unaffiliated, but we love their products and always recommend supporting local business!
IF FPSS IS BOOKED OUT FOR THE WEEK I WANT TO RESERVE, WHAT DO I DO?
Once we’re booked out, you can be added to our waitlist. If a spot opens up you will be contacted.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Camp runs rain or shine, although in the case of dangerous weather or surf conditions, we may contact you to cancel. If you do not receive communication from us that morning, camp is ON FOR THE DAY and we look forward to seeing you there!
